We employ evidence-based policy in order to become a trusted industry voice with with
government and the public.
Both Big Tobacco and Big Pharma are barred from VIANZ membership.

About Us
Vaping has upended smoking here in New Zealand across all ethnicities and age groups. To build our domestic success industry into a global one, we are being formed to take the industry to the next level. There are around 380,000 kiwis who smoke daily with another one billion smokers globally, so the Kiwi vaping could be a good for global health and a smart high-tech export industry for our country. We also know that we have a social license to uphold that ensures our industry delivers high-levels of compliance against regulatory obligations and standards. VIANZ is committed to being for New Zealand companies and as such, those who import and sell smoking products and pharmaceutical nicotine replacement therapies cannot join VIANZ.

Vaping Explained
Vaping is the greatest threat to Big Tobacco there is as it undermines demand for cigarettes by creating a far better and inherently safer way to consume nicotine.

Our Work
The New Zealand Vaping Industry is rightfully regulated. Our role is to ensure that regulation is evidence-based and risk proportionate,but to proactively engage with the regulators to ensure the vaping industry maintains high levels of compliance. To this end, an Industry Code of Conduct is being developed to show the public and policymakers that we can hold ourselves to account and to move to an environment where regulators trust what we say as manufacturers and retailers to end consumers in both general and specialist vape retailers. Our aim is for the vaping industry to be seen as the reason why Smokefree Aotearoa was achieved this decade.
